New version

13 02 2010

Sorry about the wait. I no longer have a wifi connection to test my program with and I don’t really dare relying on the iPhone simulator.

If anyone could download the latest version manually and test it I would be grateful! See the sidebar to the right for the new deb (or click here). Here are the instructions to install (there are plenty of other ways to install. Google is your friend).

Feature freeze

28 01 2010

I will not add any big features for a while. I would like some tips on how to make it more polished without drastically changing anything. Please be specific in why it would be better.

New release 1.1.1

28 01 2010

Now resumes at the last read page for that particular chapter.

Fixed some bugs that made the program crash when loading too many chapters. Load times for the chapter display have improved as a result.

New release 1.1.0

26 01 2010

Improved performance and stability.

Added a Clear cache button that will remove all offline data. Make sure you don’t have any active downloads when using that particular feature. Use it only when you find that KiwiComics take up to much space.

Thoughts about open-source?

25 01 2010

I’m considering releasing the source code for KiwiComics. The question on my mind is of course if there is anyone that knows how to code that would like to help me, otherwise it just seems like time wasted.

Offline chapters

25 01 2010

Version 1.0.9 that is now released is able to download any chapter you like for offline viewing. And it also contains some minor buggfixes.

I need more people to send in their crash reports. See the post below.

There seems like some of you cannot start the program. I suspect there is some packages that are missing on these iPhones/iPod touches. I would very much like to make it work for you guys so I would appreciate it if you could tell me the following:

Is the current version working for you, has it ever been working you? Do you have Rock? If so could you send me a mail from Rock instead? It will give me a list of packages you currently have installed. Do you have sqlite3 and libxml2 installed according to Cydia/Rock?

Could you send me a crash log? Whenever you synchronize your iPhone or iPod Touch, all the crash logs are transferred to your computer. Here are their locations:

  • Mac OS X :~/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Windows XPC:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Application Data\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/<DEVICE_NAME>
  • Windows VistaC:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Roaming\Apple computer\Logs\CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<DEVICE_NAME>

I cannot do anything without some of this information.
