Offline chapters

25 01 2010

Version 1.0.9 that is now released is able to download any chapter you like for offline viewing. And it also contains some minor buggfixes.

I need more people to send in their crash reports. See the post below.

Quick question about this version. How am I able to delete the downloaded chapters?

Yes please add delete button but I love your app thank you for all the time and effort you put into it

It Would be great to see the downloaded chapters (and to delete the ones you want, of course), but i think that the most important missing thing is a list of the queued downloads: we could choose the chapters we want and wait until their download is over. There’s a quite good app you should check out: it’s called “Manga Depot”. The biggest problem of that app is that VIZ asked to remove some series from their database. If we can have those features relying on One Manga database, Kiwicomics will be perfect!!!

INCREDIBLE: manga depot is no longer on AppStore…lol ;D

It would give a better overview but it would also take up space in the toolbar and be quite alot of work, perhaps I will implement it in future versions.

yes pls do add “delete” for the offline download chapters.
or is there any limits to the number of offline download?

I believe that the limit would be as much as your device can carry?

Btw this app has come very far in such a short time the speed and usbility has come so far!

Thanks! And yes the only limiting factor is the space on your iPod Touch/iPhone.

Is it just me, or does my downloads disappear whenever I update KiwiComics. By the way, this app was very great when you released it. And now it has become a lot better now that you added the “download any chapter” feature. Keep up the good work and keep the good updates coming ^_^

Yes downloads disappear…it happened to me too

It’s because the database schema changes. It is normal.

Thank you for the frequent updates and the improvements. The individual offline chapter download is a very neat feature.

Just some reports and comments:

1. Sometimes it crashes in the middle of the download (the app just closes itself).

2. As many suggested above, it’ll be great to be able to delete the downloaded chapter (by adding one more button called delete below?).

3. Sometimes there’s substantial lagging when tapping the next or previous page, at first I thought this is because of background downloading (before the offline chapter download), but it happens for a fully downloaded chapter as well (a dot “.” symbol instead of up arrow).

4. How about limiting the double tapping for zooming to the middle zone of the screen, so that the double tapping on the left/right zone will be treated as prev/next page. Currently it often interferes with one another (though I guess the reason is my multiple tap to counter the lagging).

5. Add a crash report/feedback box on the “Setting” page so that user can directly send one to you from the app. It took me some googling to find this place and I don’t think many users will purposely do that.

6. Personally, I never use the button “First” and “Last” chapter, I guess we can just scroll up and down.

7. A feature to remember last viewed page for each title would be infinitely useful.

Fyi, I am viewing on iPhone 3GS 3.1.2, jailbroken with b1ackra1n.

Thank you very very much.

Full of gratitude,

Lyyyn

1. Even the newest version (1.1) ?
2. See the latest version.
3. Do you have any other downloads on other series on perhaps?
4. Yes that should be fixed.
5. Interesting idea. Might look into it.
6. Some have over 400 chapters so it takes some time to scroll.
7. Should definitely be a feature.

1. The latest I have is 1.0.9. Rock hasn’t prompted me to update though I’ve checked the recent changed and see 1.1.0.1 there.. :)
2. I will be soon as I got the update
3. I see, yes, it still download another chapter.
4. Thank you
5. :)
6. Oh, I see. In that case, the scrolling a la address book, with alphabetical shortcut on the right (can change to number) would be useful.
7. Thank you very much.. :)
